Living in the Shadow of the Ghosts of Your Grief by Alan D. Wolfelt download in iPad, pdf, ePub
He had worked hard improving himself for her while in prison so he would be better than he was going in. The New Gods simply occupy time while the Old Gods gave people meaning. The only seat left available is in first class, next to the old man who is now coherent and clear-headed, having scammed his way to a first class ticket. As the tree continues to grow, Shadow and Wednesday make it out of the precinct.
Vulcan tells the crowd to go in peace and Wednesday suggests for Shadow to take cover. Thirteen months after Shadow is imprisoned, Laura begins having an affair with Robbie but makes it clear that she is waiting for Shadow.
Shadow wonders what story is going to be told for what happened. The server returns with his drink and as he reaches for it, he surreptitiously switches out his lower bet with higher chips to win more with his hand. He promises her she will be worshiped if she makes them worship her. Every time the phone rings from Woodward Federal Correctional Institution, Laura answers and accepts the collect call from Shadow.
He kicks Vulcan into the vat below and watches as he dissolves. He relates his uneasy feelings to both Low Key and later in a phone call to his wife, Laura Moon. One of the branches stabs Shadow in his side. She is angry that Wednesday has insulted Jesus, especially on their shared day.
